1991-1992: Violence Against Women Violates Human Rights

The Global 16 Days Campaign was launched by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) and feminists from around the world at the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991.

These women came together to ensure that women’s rights were seen as human rights, which became the theme of the first few years of the Campaign.
