Roundtable: Everything I always wanted to know about conjugal violence but never dared to ask

This Roundtable Discussion will bring together representatives of local organizations to increase the visibility of the fight against conjugal and gender-based violence in Montreal, Tio’tia:ke. Join to learn and ask questions about the many collective responses to the COVID-19 crisis, its huge impact on women and girls, and to learn about available local resources for survivors of violence.

Experts in the field will accompany representatives of the organization to answer questions from the general public in the style of “Everything I always wanted to know about conjugal violence but never dared to ask’.

This event will be moderated by Sonia Michaelsen, a PhD Candidate in Public Health at Universite de Montreal. Sonia has worked for several years at Auberge Shalom, a women’s shelter in Montreal. She is passionate about understanding how gender-based violence intersects with other social issues such as migration and immigration status.

We will touch on the intersection between COVID-19 and the rising cases of conjugal violence. This will allow you to inform yourself about the effects of intimate partner violence, especially during COVID-19, and more importantly to know where to turn and how to react if you experience it yourselves or recognize it in your surroundings.
