At the end of the main session there will be an opportunity to have an informal discussion with Professor Jensen.
Description: How do boys fit into the WAGGGS Stop the Violence Programme. How does toxic masculinity impact violence against women and girls and what role can male allyship play it?
Violence against women and girls is a global problem that requires a global joined up approach. According to European Institute for Gender Equality, 1 in 3 of women in Europe are affected by physical and/or sexual violence and 1 in 2 women in the EU have experienced sexual harassment since the age of 15.
WAGGGS Stop the Violence team is delighted to invite the Europe region to a special webinar about the Stop the Violence programme and to explore how boys and men within the movement can be part of the solution to address violence against women and girls, with special guest speaker Professor Robert Jensen.
Professor Jensen is an emeritus professor in the School of Journalism and Media at the University of Texas at Austin and a founding board member of the Third Coast Activist Resource Center and is an internationally renowned speaker on toxic masculinity and feminism.
