Come and march to demand an end to male violence against women!
Todmorden Women’s Patrol are hosting a march through Todmorden on Saturday 27 November, for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This will be followed by a rally with speakers.
Recent events in Todmorden and around the world show that there is still an urgent need for action against male violence against women. In the UK, 3 women a week are murdered by a current or former male partner; 1 in 4 women are raped in their lifetime; the rape conviction rate is 1.5% – the lowest since records began; and women and girls are harassed in the street on a daily basis.
Come and take a stand against all forms of male violence against women and girls in Todmorden and the world!
The march is women only. There will be a men’s solidarity vigil at the same time: https://www.facebook.com/events/157914939841806. All are welcome at the rally afterwards.
Meet at 4 pm at Pollination Street, Todmorden (the pedestrian/garden area between Todmorden Indoor Market and Rose Street). We will start marching at 4.30 pm.
UN Women is asking people to wear orange for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, so wear your orange coats, hats and whatever else! Bring banners, placards, whistles and your voices to shout a loud and clear NO to the abuse of women!
Join us on 27 November to demand a world free from male violence against women and girls! Mark it in your diaries and invite everyone you know!
