CEDAW Concluding observations of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women: Kenya

5 April 2011

Gender-based violence against women running for office is as prevalent as harassment following the successful elections of women. The concluding observations of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women: Kenya emphasize the detriment of post-electoral violence. The Committee requests the State party to take action in ensuring that females who were the victims of post-electoral violence gain access to protection through legal investigation and the prosecution of perpetrators.
